Small Backyard Landscaping Ideas - Walls And Fences

Just by changing the color of a portion of your garden walls can have a dramatic effect on the visual appeal of your flowerbeds. You need to experiment with the right colors but here is an example:

A pale purple wall serving as a backdrop for a bed that contains lilac, pink and white flowers really  accentuates the colors of the flowers. With some wild long grass species inbetween it looks stunning. If you feel like going for this color shade, use pink roses, lilac scabiosa and Verbena bonariensis.

Another small backyard landscaping idea is to create a screenwall made out of wood logs and branches simply stacked on top of one another. It gives very nice texture in the chosen area of your backyard.

If you have an existing garden wall, you may want to consider giving it the look of a "flowerbox in the air". You can create this look easily by utilising creepers and guiding them fro one side to the top of the wall from where they can grow horizontally and create the look of a flowerbox on top of the wall. You can use Dichondra argentea "silver falls" as a creeper.

Here is a unique idea to close off on today's landscaping ideas for walls:

"Hang an edible garden against the wall"

Its not that difficult! Plant some edible lettuce types of various colors in a wire basket and encase it in a wooden frame and hang it against the wall! Remember to water it daily and keep it out of the afternoon sun.
